I'm Not a Vampire
Competition entry for the 2026 Sergio Cereda Eyewear Design Award.
Inspired by the figure skater Ilia Malinin's 2025 program titled, I'm Not a Vampire, my designs bring to life the form and function of the human body on ice. Featuring the song "I'm Not a Vampire" 2021 Revamp by Falling in Reverse, Ilia's performance is one of passion, skill, and grace all tied into one entrancing performance.

Prototyping
Rhino CAD and Keyshot rendered frames were brought to life through my prototyping process. The body of these frames were initiated with a print-in-place form, which I then dry-sanded from 80 - 1,000 grit, and wet-sanded from there to 4,000 grit.
Process: Finding Shape Language
In finding the shape language for my designs, my process started with painting; my interpretation of ideation.
I started painting image upon image of the skater in various positions, tracing over shapes and forms that his body contorted into throughout his program. As the result of this process, I was able to find the deeper meaning of I'm Not a Vampire.
